Children's Mental Health Week - 2025

3rd February 2025

At Tenterfields Primary Academy, we are proud to take part in Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, running from 3rd to 9th February. With support from Place2Be, we are focusing on this year’s theme: Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.

Now in its 11th year, Children's Mental Health Week was first launched by Place2Be in 2015 to shine a light on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. This year, we want to equip our pupils—and the adults who support them—with the tools to build self-awareness and explore what it means for their personal growth.

Why is self-awareness important?

Self-awareness helps children understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. By recognising their strengths and challenges, they can develop healthy coping strategies, build resilience, and grow in confidence.

Throughout the week, our school will be engaging in activities to encourage self-reflection, emotional expression, and personal growth. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home!

Top Tips for Parents & Carers

Place2Be has shared some fantastic advice on how you can support your child’s mental well-being:

💙 Model Self-Awareness – Talk about your feelings and how you manage them, showing your child that emotions are natural.
🌱 Encourage Reflection – Ask open-ended questions like “What made you feel happy today?” or “What did you find tricky?”
📝 Celebrate Strengths – Help your child recognise their unique qualities and achievements, no matter how small.
🗣 Give Them a Voice – Encourage them to express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.
🤝 Connect & Support – Spend quality time together, whether through reading, playing, or simply chatting.

We look forward to a wonderful week of learning, reflection, and growth. Let’s work together to help our children Know Themselves and Grow Themselves! 💙🌳
